Character - "Demongroot"

My very first character design, sculpt, render, rigging and animation. Affectionately nicknamed "Demongroot", this character was the result of effectively a fourteen workdays marathon sprint during a course in autumn 2023 where we were taught how to sculpt in zbrush, export our character and then how to manually rig and animate in Maya and texture in Substance 3D Painter.

It was a lot and I'm satisfied with my efforts. The character is approximately 32k tris in its lowpoly form (could be better optimised), and is rigged with IK joints, twist joints in the arms, IK/FK switches for the arms and reverse ankle joints. To get good detailing for the texturing, a cage model was utilised in S3DP.

The animation is very much a rush job, going from not having animated anything before to the finished version shown in the animation clips in roughly 5-6 hours. If I had to retake the course again, I would definitely spend a lot more time polishing the animation, as I found the animation process quite fun.
